Qualifications:
Professional Certification Designation
- Current full-time employment as a hospitality security supervisor* with at least 3 months experience.
- Valid indefinitely from date earned.
Certificate of Knowledge
- Current full-time employment as a hospitality security supervisor* with less than 3 months experience or not currently employed in the qualifying position*.
- Valid for 2 years from date earned; not eligible for recertification.
*A qualifying supervisor is a person who supervises two or more individuals; has responsibilities for security issues at property-level; has job duties that are at least 20 percent supervisory in nature and include such tasks as scheduling, training, interviewing, disciplining, inspecting, and conducting performance reviews; makes decisions and judgment calls while performing daily duties; and has input on hiring and firing decisions within a department.
Program Fee:
- AH&LA Members**: US $200.00
- Non-AHLA members: US $275.00
Fee includes study guide, shipping, application and exam, plus designation, lapel pin, and certificate for those who qualify and reach the 70% passing score.

How to Apply for CLSS Certification:
- Print and complete the application form. *You must have Adobe Acrobat to view this application form. Click Adobe Acrobat to download program.
- Ask your supervisor to complete and return to you the CLSS Recommendation / Employment Verification Form that comes with the application.
- Mail or fax (407-999-8610) the complete application form, along with all supporting documentation and the appropriate fee.
- Within three weeks, the Educational Institute will review the application and send notification of acceptance and study guide.
- Within 6 months of time frame, successfully complete the CLSS comprehensive exam through a group certification-review class or through an approved proctor.
