The Certification Commission 2006

The hospitality industry's professional certification program is administered by the Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Lodging Association, based on policies recommended by its Certification Commission. To assure the credibility and uphold the standards of professional certification, the Commission meets regularly to review the requirements, content, and administration of each program.

Committee Policy:
- Must have minimum of three (3) EI Trustees represented on Certification Committee.
- Must have minimum of five (5) academics and eight (8) industry representatives on Certification Committee.
- Must have one (1) Canadian hotelier recommended by the Hotel Association of Canada.
- Must have one (1) individual with the Master Hotel Supplier (MHS) designation (allied membership).
- Must have a Chair representing academia who is also a member of the Board of Trustees and a Co-chair representing industry.
- Certification Committee members serve a three-year term, not to exceed two (2) consecutive terms (6 years).
- Can have up to 18 members. Any member missing two (2) consecutive meetings (without proper excuse to the Chairman), may be dropped from the committee rolls.
