Funded by AH&LEF and developed in response to industry-wide concerns about rising energy costs and usage, this Guide will serve as a tool for properties to review and evaluate usage, and incorporate strategies for energy reduction. The Energy Management and Conservation Guide details the steps necessary to initiate, implement, and maintain a cost-effective energy management program. Included is information to: understand a property’s energy usage; establish a property’s historic baseline and compare it to industry benchmarks; develop an energy management team and establish incentives; know how to reduce overall energy usage; establish a preventive maintenance program; implement an energy management system; and attain continuous improvement in energy management. The Guide is in a three-ring binder format, which will allow for easy updating.

A series of seminars, also AH&LEF-funded, are being developed with member state associations in conjunction with the publication of the Guide for managers and engineers to learn the strategies detailed in the Guide.
